Noon fire razes house in Kamjong’s Pushing village

None of the family members were present in the house when the fire broke out. Tungmaso and his family were in Ukhrul town, seeking medical treatment for his son KT Chingrimung who is undergoing kidney dialysis.

In a shocking incident, a noon fire razed a house including all valuable belongings worth around Rs 50 Lakhs at Pushing village in Manipur’s Kamjong district on Sunday, 11 February. The ill-fated house belonged to KT Tungmaso and the incident, which occurred around 3 pm, left the family homeless and in shock.

According to family sources, none of the family members were present in the house when the fire broke out. Tungmaso and his family were in Ukhrul town, seeking medical treatment for his son KT Chingrimung who is undergoing kidney dialysis.

The unfortunate event took place while the family was away, leaving them distraught with little chance to save any belongings.

The villagers were the first to notice the fire and tried their best to extinguish it, but their efforts were in vain. The fire rapidly spread and engulfed the entire house structure, which consisted of four rooms and all the valuable belongings inside.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The source, however, ruled out the possibility of electricity causing the fire. It is learnt the current had gone off since 2 pm, an hour before the incident.

The incident has completely devastated the house and destroyed all its valuable possessions, including a TV set, solar lighting set, kitchen sets, traditional costumes and ornaments, important documents and other essential items. The fire also consumed 300 cubic planks, which were stored in the house.

The family has informed that the damages caused by the fire are estimated to be around Rs. 50 lakhs. However, due to the immediate nature of the incident, the exact value could not be determined at this time.

The news of the house fire has shocked the entire Pushing village. The house and its belongings held immense value for the family. The villagers have come together to support the family in this difficult time.
