Tangkhul City Churches’ meet examines scriptures, seeks God’s will

Tangkhul Christian leaders from different cities gathered at the Retreat Hotel, Bandra West in Mumbai on Monday to examine the Bible scriptures and seek God’s will. This was the 5th Tangkhul City Churches Fellowship Network (TCCFN) meet hosted by the Tangkhul Baptist Church, Mumbai (TBCM) from October 14-17.

Themed Samkaphang atam chi mathada singkhuilu, kaja hi makapha atamna” (Make the most of your time, because the days are evil) based on the scripture Ephesians 5:16), the four-day event provided an opportunity for the Tangkhul church leaders and members to come together and share their thoughts and insights on the Holy Scripture.

The spiritual congregation witnessed overwhelming participation by delegates from as many as eight Tangkhul churches across the cities including the Tangkhul Baptist Church, Goa (TBCG); Tangkhul Baptist Church, Chennai (TBCC); Tangkhul Baptist Church, Bangalore (TBCB); Tangkhul Church, Hyderabad (TCH);Tangkhul Baptist Church, Pune (TBCP), Tangkhul Church Delhi (TCD), Tangkhul Baptist Church, Shillong (TBCS) and Tangkhul Baptist Church, Guwahati.

Over a hundred young participants, drawn from different walks of life, also took part in the event.

Rev. Yarngam Muivah, Pastor, Tangkhul Baptist Church Bangalore (TBCB), illustrated the theme Exegesis (Ephesians 5:16).

He explained how Paul continued with a command about how we use our time, giving the purpose of the scripture as “making the most of every opportunity available.”

He dwelt on Paul’s instruction to walk wisely which includes understanding the will of the Lord, which is done by walking in wisdom. “Wisdom comes by understanding the shape of God’s plan, not just intellectual knowledge.”

He mentioned that Paul was well acquainted with the notion that each day could be his last. He’d been beaten, shipwrecked, stoned, and imprisoned, not knowing if he’d make it to the next day.

Muivah further reminded the congregation about how Paul taught about Christ’s return which would happen at any time. He mentioned the purpose for believers to live holy lives and spread the gospel in preparation for the impending departure. Believers are to make the most of their time: the time he lived in was rife with sin.

Noah lived a godly life before the flood (a time of judgment). In the scripture, Paul urged his readers to live holy lives in obedience to the Lord like Noah did, knowing that the evil days they were living in indicated that judgement would come soon.

On October 15, Rev. Dr. Mathanmi Zimik, Sr. pastor, Tangkhul Church Delhi (TCD), attended the day’s event as a resource person, led two separate sessions on the topics of “What is Church?  & How to Work Together Within the Church?”
