Gadkari reviews NH projects in North East, calls for speedy completion

With an aim to enhance transport infrastructures in the North Eastern region, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari is chairing a three-day review meeting of the national Highway projects being taken up in the region.

On day one of the meet on Wednesday, 9 November, 2022, Minister Nitin Gadkari reviewed the progress of NH projects being taken up in the North Eastern states including Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Nagaland in the presence of Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union MoS General V.K. Singh, Senior Officials of the Ministry & State and Contractors.

The review meet is being held in view of the delayed projects in the four states to understand the reasons for the delay.

During the meeting, he issued specific instructions to all officials to get the delayed projects back on track and called for expediting the work progress to ensure early completion of the projects.  

As part of the review programme, he deliberated on issues and progress of different projects in the North Eastern states.

He also highlighted the importance of coordination and partnership between Central and State agencies in order to develop top-class transport infrastructure in the North Eastern States.

The Minister held in-depth discussions with the officials on common issues pertaining to land acquisition, the progress of ongoing projects and proposed projects, the use of new technologies, disputes and arbitration, and possible financial interventions.
