Lok Sabha Polls 2024: Ukhrul Excise Department seizes liquor

The department has vowed to maintain a high level of vigilance throughout the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In anticipation of the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024, the Excise Department of Ukhrul district has intensified its efforts. Led by Inspector Kh. Kodun Maring, the department apprehended around 25 liters of illicit liquor during a routine check and frisking operation at Finch Corner along the Imphal -Ukhrul-Jessami National Highway on Thursday.

The department has vowed to maintain a high level of vigilance throughout the election period. The proactive approach of the department aims to curb illicit liquor trade and ensure a fair and secure polling process.

Polling Officer Training Conducted

A training session for Polling Officer-I for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections was conducted at the Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, Wino Baazar in Ukhrul town on Thursday. Out of the 283 attendees, 166 were men and 122 were women.

The training session comprised comprehensive audio-visual presentations on the responsibilities of polling personnel and practical hands-on sessions on the operation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

The training program equipped the polling officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to facilitate a smooth and transparent election process in the district.

The upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Manipur are set to take place in two phases on April 19 and April 26. The voting for the Inner Manipur constituency will be held on April 19, while the Outer Manipur constituency will have their voting on April 26.
